Join us for this exciting six - week series offering with Morris resident, Victoria Gentile Langlois.
Pilates is a low impact form of exercise that uses precise movements, breathwork and resistance to stretch, elongate, strengthen and tone your muscles, while also sculpting your body! It is best known for its core work, which is most notable for toning and flattening your abs.
What else is involved in Pilates?
Pilates synergizes, mind, body and spirit to achieve optimal energy levels; as well as, to improve your strength, resilience, flexibility, and balance. It does this by enhancing your body awareness (through thoughtful and precise body mechanic cues), by encouraging conscious breathing and by calming your mind (initiating your routine with the use of relaxing; joint mobility movements). A Pilates class is formulated to prepare you to have a clear mind and a flexible body so you can consciously focus your attention on maximizing your movement techniques throughout your Pilates work out. While most forms of exercise focus on either strength (weight or circuit training), or flexibility (yoga and stretch classes), Pilates, on the other hand, takes a more holistic approach, focusing on precise movements and conscious breathing; thereby creating an overall feeling of relaxation, while also strengthening and stabilizing muscles, that typically aren’t engaged during other forms of exercise.
