Dear Morris residents,

It’s that time of year again to start thinking about the holidays! The Town of Morris Social Services department is pleased to offer Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets for Morris families and seniors who are in need of assistance.

Thanksgiving Food Baskets - Every family will receive a turkey for Thanksgiving. In addition to this we provide everything they need for their Thanksgiving meal. This includes but is not limited to fresh potatoes, sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, onions and apples. As well as boxed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, canned pumpkin, corn bread mix, pie crust mix, corn, green beans, fried onions, condensed milk, marshmallows, flour, sugar and oil.

Christmas Food Baskets will consist of many of the food items mentioned above as well as seasonal holiday treats.

Holidays Gifts – We will have our Annual Giving Tree program. This program provides children under 18 with Christmas gifts. Parents will fill out their wish list and those items are placed on the Giving Tree. Families in the community then shop for those children and donate the items. We will do our best to accommodate wishes.

A copy of the holiday needs assessment form is attached. Please return form by 11/1/24. You may drop off at Town Hall or email selectmen@townofmorrisct.com.

Toiletries for Teens – Children ages 14 – 18 receive a basket with toiletry items. Each basket also includes a gift card for the child to do some shopping on their own.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Laurel Gillotti, Social Services Coordinator at 860-567-7430.

The town also has a year-round food pantry located at the Town Hall, 3 East Street open Monday – Friday or by appointment on weekends.
