Janet Barrett, the author of “They Called Her Reckless” will present her new book “Comanche and His Captain—The Warhorse and The Soldier of Fortune,“ on Zoom, with the Morris Public Library Online, Thursday, January 14, at 6:30 pm.
“Comanche and His Captain” tells of the tough Mustang that survived the Battle of the Little Bighorn to become the most famous horse in America, and his owner, the soldier of fortune, Captain Myles Keogh. An intriguing story that moves from Ireland to America, and spans the Civil War and the U.S. Cavalry’s fight to secure the western frontier, it is a tale of bravery, partnership, survival, and healing.
Janet Barrett remembers her father first telling her about Comanche when she was about eight years old, a simple story then about a horse that survived a terrible Indian battle.
With the success of “They Called Her Reckless, Morris Public Library’s presentation with the author in 2017, we are happy to welcome Ms. Barret back!
Janet Barrett has previously written about health, sports, and education, and the people therein for a host of specialty publications, first as a staff writer and later through her own company, Janet Barrett Communications. Barrett also operates Designed 4 Paws, creating clothes and accessories for dogs and cats, and items for the folks who love them.
Ms. Barrett was raised in New York, graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Communications, and now lives with her husband in Connecticut.
